Stress and anxiety are all too common for adults, especially working adults and full-time moms! I've compiled a list of ways on how we can relieve our stress and anxiety - most of them are true and tested by yours truly.
I've come to realise that these 'ways' are really just distractions that help you calm yourself, take your mind off things, and stop you from thinking too much.
Workout - personally I feel that this is one of the best things to combat stress. I would head to the gym and workout, go for a run, or even take a walk to clear my mind. Sometimes all you need to do is just get out of the house or the office and take a breather
Light a candle or diffuser - supplement this with some deep breathing and you're good to go
Meditate - what I love to do is to practice deep breathing and do dhikr. It really helps to relieve some anxiety as I learn to let go and believe in the higher power
Writing your problems down - more than often you'll be able to see that they are not that huge of a problem after all!
Eat - we all stress eat, don't act surprised!
Spend time with family and friends - this one is a definite distraction. Especially when the funniest member of the family starts cracking jokes. What was all the stress about again?
Dance - I love dancing with Tim. Sometimes when the stress is caused by him (ha-ha) and I feel a little strain in our relationship, the best thing to do is, in fact, to get even closer to one another
Put on some music - I would recommend something cheery and upbeat, not a sad melancholic song - I've never been a fan of those!
Shower - they say water fights fire. So what's better than to take a nice long shower to find that chill again
Cuddle - they say, if you want to live longer, you need to get rid of all that cortisol in your body! So go and get some positive physical contact everybody!
Try these at home or at your workplace and hopefully it can help reduce the pressure you feel. It'll possibly improve your overall work-life balance as well.
