Romantic Date Ideas

I'm all about making memories and since having Jacob, our dates have been simple yet so effortlessly lovely! I am excited about this post and to share my date-night ideas with you!

To me, everything that we do together counts as a date even if it's to head to the grocery store! I must say, going to the grocery store together as husband and wife and not needing to rush home to our baby afterwards is such a luxury lately. Sometimes we would stop by Baskin Robbins on our way home and enjoy a scoop of ice cream or two together. These little moments are something we often look forward to every time we run out of bread or eggs!

While our dates are far and few between, they are a whole lot of fun. In the thick of parenthood, it's not easy to find some alone time together - with me living and breathing according to Jacob's schedule, and Tim being very busy with work since he started his own business.

We tend to leave each other at the bottom of our 'to-do' list as we busy ourselves with other daily priorities, like wanting to do the best by our baby! Parenting takes so much out of us.

But when we're able to finally find some time for each other (like when my mum volunteers to look after Jacob or when Jacob falls asleep), here is a list of things that we enjoy doing:

  1. Cook dinner together

  2. A quick drive to Starbucks/ Mcdonalds drive-thru for a snack or iced chocolate. It's a good thing that both Starbucks & Mcdonalds are located next to each other and only a 3-minute drive away from our place

  3. Head to the driving range together, short games are often more fun as we do little challenges like who can get the ball closest to the hole

  4. 'Love you' texts/calls when Tim is at work

  5. Make an excuse to go to the grocery store and buy ice cream on our way back

  6. Put on a late-night movie we've been meaning to watch (and watch with the lowest volume possible or with subtitles so to not wake our baby up!) Sometimes we would watch on the iPad and share earphones, it's just as cool

  7. Reminisce about the very first time we met and our first dates together

  8. Discuss our future plans and the dreams we share for our family

  9. Dance together while Tim hums a good tune or sings our favourite dance song - often 'Stand By Me'

  10. Workout together and have breakfast someplace cool after

  11. Watch YouTube videos all night. Most of the time its football or football highlights, I'm not that much of a fan but it allows us to spend time together so I'm cool with it!

At the end of the day investing in your marriage is the best thing you can do for your family, and make your relationship stronger one memory at a time!
