A Monday Boost

I never understood why society teaches us to dread Mondays. I don’t know if it started as a psychological thing but Monday blues have become so prevalent that they are now a cultural phenomenon. Is it because Monday is the start of that five days a week where people had to go to work?

When I was living in Sudan, the weekends we had were Friday and Sunday. The country was working on a Saturday, and then had Sunday off day, and then worked again on a Monday, it was, different.

When I was in Dubai, weekends were Friday & Saturday - so I suppose people had the case of the Sundays there.

But! wherever you are, and whatever the first day of the week it may be, we need to start changing the narrative and look at them as a fresh start. I personally love Mondays because it gives me a sense of beginning, a sense that anything and everything can happen and it is up to me to set my intentions and set new goals for the new week to make it a good one.

With the intention to set the right tone for the rest of the week, Tim and I would often treat ourselves to something special at the start of the week. It could be a nice chocolatey breakfast, a delicious cup of frappe with extra whipped cream, or we would dance to a totally new song we’ve not even heard before!

But in case you still need a little boost on your Monday morning, here are some positive mantras that I love and which has brought a lot of positivity & motivation in our home:

  1. I trust my inner wisdom and intuition

  2. I press on because I believe in my path

  3. I am happy in my own skin and in my own circumstances

  4. I will make today a gorgeous day to remember

  5. I am in complete charge of my own future

  6. I am doing work that I enjoy and find fulfilling

  7. I surround myself with people who treat me well

  8. I engage in work that impacts this world positively

  9. I refuse to give up because I haven’t tried all possible ways

  10. I forgive myself for all the mistakes I have made

Repeat the one that resonates with you most throughout the day (until you feel you have actualised your goal) and hopefully, it’ll inspire you to continue your day with a positive mindset!
