Carving Out Some Precious Alone Time

While I feel so blessed to have been able to spend the past few months in quarantine with my family, quality time that I wouldn’t have had otherwise, I can’t ignore the fact that so much has changed in the past few months.

With all the staying home and quarantine efforts taken place, the lines between motherhood, work, family, and personal time have somewhat blurred. I find that I don’t have time to myself as much as I did before and I am starting to really see the value of having alone time.

My alone time has been used to reconnect with myself, and to find some zen even when the world around me feels like anything but. Often when I do have some free time (when Jake takes his naps), that little pocket of time is used for work, chores, or preparing meals for my family, and very rarely for myself.

Having alone time might come as a strange thing for some people, but for me, being able to go into seclusion for even just 10 minutes can manifest some positivity for my mind and spirit. I use this time to reflect, to recharge, to take a deep breath and make sure I’m OK. It doesn’t even have to be that long of a time.

Being a mom can sometimes be overwhelming and having the space to take a breather can really create a buffer to help me manage the demands of motherhood. Do you carve out some alone time for yourself? What do you do during this time?
